Hello, my name is Kirsty and I am addicted to RuPaul’s Drag Race. P.S. you will not find any spoilers here 🙂
Unfortunately I am super late to the party as I only found the joy of Drag Race this January but I have so made up for it by making it to season 6 so quickly. Being a reality TV addict I am still in shock that I haven’t watched this until now. Major thanks to my friends for getting me hooked. Also, thanks to my Hayu account I can watch an episode of Drag Race and then move onto Untucked for some juicy gossip.
On a daily basis, my friends and I share the perfect Drag Race GIFs for any situation. Some of our go to lines are:
“Good luck, and don’t fuck it up”
“The library is open!”
But seriously, this TV show is an amazing platform for the LGBT community. Of course it makes us laugh out loud but equally it brings in the real emotional factor. The heartbreaking stories of rejection and sadness these beautiful girls have experienced are perhaps buried under a campy schtick and baked face but you do find a boy who has lived a tough life. By the end of each season I love the dramarific reunions but also hearing the comments the girls have had from the public showing how the positivity they have brought someone. That is what is important.
I love that feeling of getting to know someone in an reality show and after watching these seasons I have so many favourites. Here are my personal top 5:
Alaska Thunderfuck 5000
I’m not going to lie, while finding appropriate images for this blog I was sucked into a world of GIFs for a good hour. Whoops!
Finally, there would be no Drag Race without the fabulous RuPaul himself. Isn’t he just amazing?! Ru captivates the audiences and brings in sass with class. Okay, Hunty? Yass! His music has somehow made its way into my Spotify life and I live for the gowns each episode. Is there anything Ru can’t do?
Let me know what you think about RuPaul’s Drag Race. Are you a super fan?
Until next time
